Space Zoo Patrol Parents & Teachers

ORIGIN STORY

Years ago, I was an appointee in the President George H. W. Bush Administration and worked on the President’s National Energy Strategy at DOE.  I was asked to be a Moderator at the annual DOE National Science Bowl. I met amazing kids who were really excited about science (they would buzz in with the correct answer while I was still stumbling over the pronunciation of the question). However, for the last 15 years, we have all read the yearly headlines that US students’ scores in math and science are falling behind international scores. The Dept of Education spends billions on “teacher preparedness” and “curriculum development”. They told me that getting kids excited about science was up to the private sector. When kids get excited about the subject matter, they tune in, and then the other approaches will bloom. Someone needed to get kids excited about science. Each night as I was getting my twin boys ready for bed, I would make up a new story. Soon, the Space Zoo Patrol evolved.

Please enjoy our Space Zoo Patrol friends.
